You strut out of Supercheap Auto with receipt in hand, happy that the new tool chests were 20% off and your favourite engine oil was two for the price of one.You duck into the newsagents to grab the wife her papers, slide through Macca's drive-thru for the kids bribes, and head off towards home in your brand-new XR8 feeling pretty dam smug for a Sunday morn. Stopping for the next red, while fiddling with the Bluetooth on your premium Sound set-up, you feel the presence of another Ford sidling up next to you. A quick glance over and you see what looks like a stock white ED XR8. Without a second thought your back fiddling with the stereo, confident that the bloke grinning away next to you isn't game to try anything.
The lights turn green and you give it some herbs just to show who's boss, but then an almighty roar is heard in the next lane, quickly followed by a white flash alongside you and he....is....gone. As you absorb the humiliation of what just happened to you, a moist sensation overtakes your lower regions. No, it's not that you just crapped yourself from the fright, it's the kids drinks spilt all over you and your new interior. When your wife opens the front door at home, she and the hungry kids are greeted by the sight of a man holding a soggy Sunday Tele, a busted-ass bag of Macca's, and clothes covered in a combination of chocolate and strawberry milkshakes. The wife cracks that she never thought you'd take to the latest metrosexual fashion.

Brett Kelly loves that his car is the ultimate sleeper. It gives him great joy to rip those stickers off and take it out for a cruise, and the cops don't give it a second look. And the best part is that Brett pretty much did it all himself, thanks to the help and support of his sponsors. "I first bought the car in 2000 and it was enlisted as the family car/tow car for my previous street weapon- an XD with a standard-stroke 2V-headed Cleveland that ran 11.20 sec@120mph NA, and10.20sec @132mph with a 200 shot of NOS.
With a new baby on the way plus the cost of two V8 regos and one six-cylinder rego, something had to go. I couldn't part with the XR8- I just loved the look of the ED with the round headlights- so bye bye XD"

Having now achieved the challenge of Super Street, and setting times around 10.98 secs during qualifying trials at the 2009 Willowbank Winter Nationals, Brett is now looking forward to converting his ED-XR8 to enter into Super Sedan categories for the 2010 season. To achieve this Brett would appreciate additional interested sponsers to help finance these modifications, and in return will advertise/promote your products or services to the many thousands of eager drag racing followers.
